Hot work tool steels are specifically designed to withstand the extreme temperatures and conditions found in processes like forging, die-casting, and extrusion. They maintain excellent strength and wear resistance, even when exposed to the thermal stresses of such high-heat environments.
In ASTM A681 standard, there are “H” Hot Work Tool Steel Series from H. Like H10,H11, H12, H13, H14,H19,H21 H22,H23,H24,H25,H26, H42 Steel. The most popular one is H13 (1.2344) and H11 (1.2343) steel.
AISI H13
H-13 Tool Steel is a chromium-molybdenum-vanadium hot work tool steel that is known for its high hardening and excellent toughness.
DIN 1.2344 Steel
DIN 1.2344 Steel is a top-notch Hot work tool steel, falling into that high-quality, high-carbon alloy tool steel club. With an oil quench and temper, it toughens up to a hardness of 28-34 HRC. And after annealing, it chills out to a hardness just shy of 250HB.
DIN 1.2343 Steel
DIN 1.2343 steel, which is comparable to AISI H11, falls under the classification of hot work tool steels. It stands out for its remarkable durability, its ability to withstand thermal fatigue, and for retaining its characteristics effectively, even when subjected to high temperatures.
